Hello,

I am in the process of having the lap-band surgery. I am scheduled to have my sleep apnea evaluation. Can anyone tell me what the next step is after this evaluation? The suspense is killing me because I want to hurry up and get this surgery over with. The process is entirely to long.

Hi, I agree the process is way too long, I started this journey on Aug. 12 of this year, my sleep evaluation was the last thing i had to do. I did psych test, ekg, blood work, and met with a nutritionist now I am just waiting to meet with the doctor to sign my ins. papers off. That appt. is on Oct. 30. It seems like it will take about 4 months depending on how long my ins. wait to give the approval, but everyone's is different.

I still haven't did the blood testing. I go for the sleep apnea testing 10/31. I believe that my insurance is going to be ok, I do qualify for the surgery as far as their guidelines are concerned. I hope that I have surgery before the end of the year. I've been reading about this pre-op dieting and I hope that will not be another set back. If so I hope to start AFTER Thanksgiving! :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
