How long have you kept the weight off?

Recommended Posts

From all the research I've done, i know that LB has great weight loss results initially. But I'm wondering about it's long term effect... have people been able to maintain their weight loss for a sustained amount of time (after you've reached goal or become happy with your weight)?

I've maintained 182 for about a year with no problem. It's not my preferred weight, but the weight my BODY prefers!

The band is a wonderful tool to help you lose and maintain weight loss, but there certainly are ways to eat around it if you so desire! Milk shakes go down super easy!

I think most of the people with long term success are not on the Internet..they are off living their lives.

My ex-MIL (still friends) has maintained a 125 lb weight loss with the band for over five years now. I am optimistic.

The statistics for long term weight maintenance with the band are quite good. That is what attracted me to the band.

I was banded just over a year ago and while not yet at goal (but it finally is in sight) I have kept off everything that I have lost. Even when I was having problems with my fill levels which went on for almost two months I still didn't regain any weight. for me this has always been the biggest battle in the past.... I would lose weight and then it would start creeping back on one kilo at a time.

it's been a bit over a yr. i've gone as low as 116 due to the flu, however my body seems to hover between 123-125 & has since summer.

like lapbandtalker - hope to say the same next yr.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
