:confused_smile:Patience will pay off. I began my journey for lapband in the end of June 08, my insurance requires 6 months of a doctor sponsered program and I had done that the year before in one of my weight loss attempts. I actually lost alot but then ended up being forced to go back on my medication and gained the whole 70 lbs back in 2 years. That was my last attempt. I decided on surgery and had met all of my insurance requirements. They assumed I would be in surgery by the end of July.

Guess again.....Denied, denied again, had the obesity law people represent me to appeal and I have finally been cleared.'

My surgery is in two days. Oct 21. I learned alot during the wait and had the time to really get to understand what my life is going to be like after and how much I just want to not be FAT anymore.

Hang in there, it will come when it is supposed to. Mine took total 4 months to surgery.

Welcome to Lapband talk. You are in the right place. This waiting time will give you the opportunity to do some soul searching. This whole process is a mental thing. I had the roller coaster ride. I had my hopes up, was denied by insurance, appealed, and got the denial reversed. Had my surgery on Sept 30th. and ended up having complications and ended up in the hospital for a week. I have no regrets, but this band and my new life mean everything to me. So, while you are waiting, read EVERYTHING you can get your hands on. This site is a great resource. There are also books out there too.

Good Luck!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
