Mary I just posted this on the other Kaiser inquiry post, but if you are not approved in the U.S. Kaiser will NOT do your fills! But they will make the appointment to trick into coming so they can lecture you!! I just went through that a few weeks ago and I filed a complaint......

Good luck though!

Thank you for the info Karen, I was just banded yesterday in Mexico and doing great:) My kaiser doctor has already told me she will do all my blood work and monitor me, as for the fills I have life time fills in mexico so I guess I will fly in and out in one day. No big deal, I find it sad that we pay our dues w/ Kaiser but have to elsewhere for our medical treatments. But thats Kaiser for you. Have you been banded yet? Where? When and if so how are you doing?

Mary

I agree with the last lady's post. Kaiser is really pissing me off!! I pay for the damned insurance and I am significantly overweight (60-70 lbs). I need help and the only help that they can offer me is a pay for support group! This is bullsh*t!! Pardon my french!:huh2::cursing::cursing:

Hi,

I have Kaiser here in Portland Oregon. It took me 1 1/2 years to finally get approved for the surgery only to wait another 2 months to get my orientation. At the orientation, I was very disappointed. It was one of those meetings that just takes the wind out of your sails! They made it clear that it is a process that will take 6 months to 2 years to get through to finally get surgery scheduled. Then, they only have one doctor that does the laperscopic method and has an additional 2 year wait list. Long story short... I figured out that my co-morbitities would kill me before I would ever qualify for the surgery through Kaiser. So, I'm scheduled for the gastric sleeve in Mexico on January 8th. I'm really excited and have talked to several people that have used my doctor and medical facility. The cost is definately affordable. So, if you get sick of waiting for Kaiser, there are other options! Don't ruin your health playing the waiting game jumping through hoops.

Good luck to all!

Donna

Ok, how do you ensure your safety being as though it is in Mexico? They do not have the same regulations on health facilities that we do in the US. That is coming from a friend of mine who is Mexican and from Mexico.

Help!

How can you ensure your safety anywhere?? I have a good friend that had a breast lumpectomy at Kaiser here in Portland Oregon. She spent the next 2 months at home as she developed MRSA in here surgical site then developed C-Diff from the anti-biotic treatment. Life simply doesn't come with any kind of guarantees however, there is less chance of complications with the laproscopic surgery than the open method and having surgery now rather than 4 years from now will improve my health and keep me from having further complications with my diabetes.

I hope that helps!

Donna

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
