Got my date! Monday! 10/20!

Recommended Posts

I'm very excited, a little apprehensive, and so grateful to have a date. It's this coming Monday, at Rancho Specialty Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga, California, by Dr. Owens. I don't know if I'm happier about the band or if I'm happier to have my huge hiatal hernia fixed. I've been feeling awful for a couple of months, all associated with my stomach. (Didn't keep me from eating ice cream, though.) Been on a pre-op diet for a couple of weeks hoping that the surgery would be this Monday, and have lost some weight. I didn't keep track of how much I weighed when I started the pre-op, but I'm thinking I've lost about 20 pounds total since I started this journey. Anyway, YAAYYY!!!!!! I'll be an October Bandster!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm not really sure. I believe it's the Lap Band but never really asked my surgeon. I've only seen him once, as he's a 1.5 hour drive away (only 30 miles, but this is L.A.). It never actually occurred to me to ask what type of band it is. I'm sure I'll find out though. I'll try to remember to reply again when I find out.

Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
