Have no idea what is going on....

Recommended Posts

Ok, so at my last checkup I was at 3.5cc's and actually was experiencing the PB's so based on my qty. amounts (to eat), etc. my doctor decided not to put any more it. So over the past month, I've had more and more PB's to the point now where almost anything solid I eat (this includes oatmeal & grits!) feels stuck and I end up coughing it all up. I'm going in on Thurs as an "emergency" visit since I am only able to tolerate liquids (even ice cream gave me trouble and that was a "last resort" food). I've never had this much restriction before and although I mentally like the idea of not being able to eat, I know I still need to be able to. I don't want to get used to only being on a liquid diet this far out (Banded June 9th). Anyone else going through this? I get freaked out that something has happened to my band.

When you PB, do you go on liquids for the rest of the day? If you don't, you risk getting irritated and then nothing stays down.

Thanks! I did both of your suggestions and they did help some. I ended up getting .6 cc's removed yesterday and feel worlds better! Not sure what happened but I'm able to eat solids again and still have good restriction. Still love this band!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
