Calorie Question

Recommended Posts

I use Calorie King to track my calorie intake each day.

Today I worked out and burned 685 calories during exercise.

I ate 1341 calories, but the tracker only counts 647 of them, due to the deficit created by exercise.

Do you count the calorie loss from exercise, or should I try to stay under 1000 calories EVEN WHEN I EXERCISE?

If I had done that, before eating my "evening snack" I was at like 890 calories, which would have been good for the day. However, I was hungry after working out this evening.

I'm not a doc or a nutritionist, littlefroggi, but under 1000 cals sounds waaaay too low. The thing is, your body continues to burn calories long after you finish exercising.....that's why it's so important to incorporate exercise into your life. The more lean muscle you build, the higher your Basal metabolic rate will be (simply put, the more calories your body will burn at rest). In my opinion, 1200 - 1300 calories is ok.....much lower than that and you might mess up your metabolism. This sounds like an excellent question for your doc or nurse, BTW...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
