Hi from Vancouver, BC

Hello everyone,

After reading this list for the past few days, I decided to join in. I have been considering lap band surgery for years, and have finally decided to go for it. I'm considering having the surgery in either the Seattle area or Mexico, but as I've been reading, finding a fill doctor can be challenging if you have surgery away from where you live.

I'd be interested to hear other people's stories, particularly anyone who is from B.C. like me and those who have done their surgery in Mexico. I plan to post in the doctors forums to ask about experiences with specific doctors.

This is definitely a big step and I'm excited to take it, but I also want to be very careful. I'm definitely mindful of patient coordinators and marketing people who pose as patients, so I'm being extra careful about evaluating what is said online. In any case, this looks like a great place to do my research.

That's why they interested me, as Bellingham is much closer. But it seems there is another place, Northwest Weight Loss that also has an office in Bellingham, but I don't know if they do the surgery there or just post-op follow-ups and fills.

I don't know if they do or not but you could email them and ask. But before anything make sure you will have after care if you seeking care in Canada.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
