A little Confused...

Recommended Posts

So I submitted my paperwork (Just posted a thread about it earlier) but I was going to see if this has happened to anyone else. Well I had all my tests did my 6 mo weight loss w my doctor and I was trying to get my 24 months history of 40 BMI for Cigna but my insurance specialist said that they did not require that anymore. I found that very weird, but it is in my benefit because I have had such a hard time finding an acceptable weight because I had lost 120 pounds in 2005 and have progressively put it back on over the past 3 years but just got back up to a 40 BMI. Also, my doctors office shreds records after three years so i had no way of proving my BMI besides pictures because before I lost that weight I was bigger than I am now with a 43 BMI. Anyways was just wondering if anyone had lucked out like this, or did my specialist just mess up??

Even if someone else has CIGNA it doesn't mean their coverage is the same as yours. You can wait and see, or call Cigna and ask the requirements for Lap band surgery!

Good luck!

Other people have been successful with submitting a picture diary.

Sometimes the insurance companies like to see weight going up and down and up and down, too. It shows a history of yo-yo dieting. So it might be in your interest -- if they say they want a 2 year history -- to submit 5 years worth of pictures instead.

I'm a bit shocked your doctor's office shreds records like that. How can you have good care if they only know what happened to you in the past 3 years? Do they have the records on computer instead? Honestly, if my PCP only kept records for 3 years, I'd leave her.

I know each CIGNA is not the same, but it could be close. I know that this past summer when I put everything through to CIGNA, they did need proof of weight from two years ago. I just used the records from a visit I made because of the flu. Call CIGNA and see what they need from you. Good Luck!

Well its a "Doc in the BOX" as we call it in Alabama, its not a PCP. I didn't have one throughout high school because I didn't really need one...hopefully they wont give me any trouble...i am so nervous!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
