Help, I Cant stop Vomiting!

Recommended Posts

I had the lap band procedure this tuesday and have not stopped throwing up since. I was re-admitted to the hospital last night and the nausea subsided, however as soon as I got home today I began throwing up again. Can anyone let me know how long this goes on or any advice on how to deal with this. It is becoming really discouraging. Is this normal? One moment I feel great, the next moment I'm in front of the toilet severely vomiting. Help!:)

Call your doctor immediately..... It is NOT good for you to be throwing up-- both for your band and for dehydration.

Are you feeling sick after you take pain meds? Sometimes they can make some people really sick to their stomach.

I agree with KimmyV call your doc NOW NOW NOW. Don't wait.

Lortab/Vicodin/Hydrocodone (same drug) makes me nauseated but surely if it had that effect on you, they'd have discovered it in the hospital.

Either way, move now, call your doc. please!

Yes you do need to call your Dr. Is this after you have had your protien shake? After you take your meds? Or when you have not had anything at all. They really need t ofind out why you are vomiting so much. It will cause slippage in your band and you could be dehydrated. Keep us posted. I will pray for you.

After two trips to the ER and getting admitted Sunday afternoon, we discovered what the real problem was! My gallbladder went bad and was not working, thus resulting in my symptoms of nausea, vomiting, etc. I had my gallbladder removed last night and I felt INSTANT relief! Now I can focus on my recovery and adjusting to my life with the lap band. Thank you all for your concern. For all future lap band patients, I would consider getting a gallbladder study before surgery. I could have avoided all of this if I had. In hind sight, we could see how my gallbladder had begun to deteriorate in week 2 of the liquid diet prior to surgery.

Grateful and relieved,

Slim Jimmy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
