Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks out and ever since I went on to mushie foods, I havent lost any weight. I actaully put on 1.5 pds. Now before you think, you are eating to much. I am not. I count my calories and it ranges between 950-1200 cals a day. I have good restriction. I stop eatting as soon as I am full. I eat my protien first. I do know I havent worked out for a week, because I have had bad migranes every day! Blah stupid hormones! Anyway I am just wondering has anyone like lose weight really well and for no obvious reason the weightloss freezes? And how long did it last? I am soooooooo scared that my body sux and I will have to go down to 500 cals a day just to lose any damn weight! I thought I would lose weight on a steady basis.. but for a week nada?! GRRR :)

I was banded on the 17th of sept, and was having the same problem. My clinic told me I was not eating enough. If you are not eating enough your body goes into starvation mode and will store food, instead of burning it. you may wan tto call your doc or dietician. Good luck:lol:

hmmmm Well I would think that 1000-1200 cals would be enough? I think its weird. But maybe its a shock for my system. I will give it another week and if nothing changes I will call up my Dr. and see what they have to say? THX

Mariposa, I think you possibly nailed it in your first post....when you referred to your Migraines and the hormones.

Fat cells horde estrogen, and when you lose weight quickly as you have up til now, that excess hormone gets dumped into your system---causing the hormone induced migraines, PLUS causing a multitude of PMS like issues---including bloat, and Water retention---which both result in weight gain. You might also notice mood swings, and libido changes, acne breakouts etc.

Your body actually adjusts quickly and they will pass.

I would not recommend going any lower in calories, and in fact, maybe instead of counting calories for a few days just concentrate on eating as healthy as you can...fresh nutrtious food, avoid the processed often high sodium foods---which will just make the Water retention worse.

Years ago I had hormone induced migraines, and they went away when I had a hysterectomy (had it for other reasons---not the migraines), never had another one until I got banded!!! Then I had a few during the first month following it, and they went away.....never to return I hope!!!

Good Luck to you----I bet it eases up soon, and the weight loss continues!

Kat

I experienced the same thing and I agree with the idea that sometimes I wasn't eating enough. After I added more calories in a day I started losing again. It could have just been a coincidence, but who knows. I also can tell the differnce when I have too many carbs in a day. I lose more when I stick to mainly proteins.... I had a piece of wheat bread in a sandwich for supper last night and had a glass of juice earlier... This morning I had gained .2 of a pound.... So today I'll make sure to get mostly Protein and that should be better tomorrow.... I also think everyone is different and you will stumble onto what is going to work for you... good luck.. Julie

Thank you for all of your advice. I, after I posted this, ended up with the worst Migraine in the world! OMG it was horrible! I took 2 zomigs and still had a migraine. Well, I got on the scale and the scale dropped 4 pds! lol GEZZZZZ!!! I do feel like I am pmsing, Water retention, headaches, chocolate cravings, exhuastion etc. I didn't really think about it. I did thought, hmm I know fat cells can hold on to all kinds of stuff. And I thought maybe becuz of that hormone could be messing things up. But I have lost weight before, but dont remember feeling this way. But then again I was on ephedra and it could of masked all of this? lol Anyway thank you all for your replies

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
