I just started my 2 weeks pre-op diet today and wow!!! I am not handling this well. I admit...I ate like a pig up to yesterday. My doctor has me on the Carnation Diet, 6 shakes per day. Any one who claims Lap Band is the easy way out has never been on all liquids for 2 solid weeks.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any thing I should know to get through this?

Thanks!!!

Surgery date: 10/16/08

Hi. Drink lots of Water to keep the sensation of fullness. Also, don't watch TV (too many food commercials). Good luck!

Hi, I haven't been banded yet. J'm just going to a seminar next week, but I saw your comments and I just wanted to tell you to do your best. The 16th will be here before you know it. You can do it. Go for a walk or read a book or just do something to get your mind on something else. I'll be praying for you. Good luck.

tracie30.. I know the two week pre op is not easy but just remind yourself why you are doing this and that is just the beginning of a wonderful journey. I never thought I would get through my pre op, but I did and now I am on the other side trying to force the amount of Protein in that I should have for a day..and it is really hard to continue to drink when you are so not feeling hungry.. I am ready for mushies just so i can feel something other then a Protein Shake go on my taste buds.. I am so sick of shakes I could scream ha ha.. But it is all worth it and it will help us get to our goals sooner.. Stay strong.. U can do this..

Gum and drinking Water helps, but this is a tough time no matter how you slice it.

Don't think about two weeks, only think about making it through today or even the next meal . . . you win the war one battle at a time. This should be the toughtest part of your journey . . . but it will definitely pass. Good luck!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
