Are there any veteran bandsters out there

Recommended Posts

Are there any bandsters out there that have had there band for a few years ? How are you coping, have you gained any weight that you lost and if so how did you deal with it ? I am 21 weeks post op and am so far thrilled with the results, but am wondering if this really is the answer to my prayers or if I may face problems later on.

thanks

hello Lady Gaynor. I'm not a veterian, but my DH is. His 2 year bandiversary is fast approching. He has lost just shy of 200 pounds and is still loosing. (keep your fingers crossed, we weigh tonight, and I'm hoping he crosses into Tripoli tonight.)

He hasn't gained back any of his weight, but he has had several very long plateaus. I think it's been good, because it has given him the chance to get used to getting smaller and smaller.

(I'm just a baby bandster myself.)

Hi Gaynor,

I'll have been banded two years on August 20, and I'm holding my own at about 120 lbs down. Regain is not really a concern at this point, since my lifestyle has changed so much since being banded.

The rest of our lives is a very long time, so I never say never. But for the time being all is wonderful. ;)

Hi,

Two years out, had a slight regain when I quit smoking 7 weeks ago. I gained 10 lbs and now I am starting to lose it again. So, if ya stick with the program and eat Protein and veggies, you should continue to do well.

Hi Babs

well done on giving up smoking, it was well worth the 10 pound gain. I too have given up and know how difficult it is.

keep on keeping on

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
