Hello,

I just joined this group, so I'm not sure i'm doing this right!!

My husband and I are doing Lap Band together. We went to our first information night in June, he sent his paperwork right in and had his first appointment the beginning of July. He had his surgery on Monday, September 29, 2008. He lost 29 lbs before surgery.

I didn't send my information in until the middle of July. I have done everything that has been required so far, meet with the surgeon, the dietitian and the psychiatrist and was on the list to be reviewed in September, but the psychiatrist was not at the meeting, so I'm on the list for October! We didn't want our surgeries the same week, but hopefully I will have mine in October.

I'm glad we found this site, I used it last night because my husband had a gas bubble, and I found the answer!

I want to do the weight loss ticker, after my surgery, where do you find that?

Hope I did this right!:)

Hi Vavery - nice to have another New Englander here. I am from neighboring NH but actually live on the border with The People's Republic of Vermont. My family vacations in Wells every year and stay at Lafayette's. Welcome to the talk group and perhaps you'll join our Smashing Pumpkins October bandsters group. My daughter was banded last Thursday and my wife was banded yesterday. I am scheduled for 10/29.

Hi,

I'm not sure I will be going in October, the group doesn't meet until October 24th, so hopefully I will get a date after that. My husband is doing great, he is 1 week banded. I can't wait, although I'm not making meals for myself while he is on the liquid diet, so I'm eating Soup, yogurt, etc., for supper!!

Wells is a very nice town, especially in the summer!

Good luck on the 29th

I'm glad your husband is recoving well. My wife and daughter are also recovering well and have had very few issues except my wife has learned the hard way that you can't sleep on your side. They are both progressing to more interesting foods. My banding date is 22 days away and I cannot wait!

HI,

YOu don't have very long to wait for your date. Good luck. I am going November 10th!! In Biddeford with Dr. Carroll. I'm a little nervous, but very excited. I start my liquid diet on Monday!! But I have been eating light anyway because my husband had to, he just started eating real food, but still looking for things he can eat! He lost 29 lbs before surgery on 9/29 and has lost a total of 49 lbs so far! He is doing great, we have to get him some new clothes!!

Good luck, let me know how you make out.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
