Anyone Being Banded on 10/16

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow birthday people....a few hours & we all go to the hospital. I'm in the Detroit area...Dr Keith Marshall & Dr Carl Pesta...I can't wait, but could have left the bowel prep.

Oh my aching tummy...:D But...a small price to pay for better health. See you all after we are new bandsters!

Good luck!

Just thought I would see how everyone is doing. I came home this morning after the swallow test and am doing really well. Walking a lot and drinking my broth every hour. I hope that all of y'all are having it as easy as I am. Post when you can!

Lori Ann,

I'm doing well too! Feel like I did too many sit-ups...that's all & just getting rid of the gas...ahh!

Glad to hear you are feeling ok!

Debbie

Hello other 16ths! I'm doing well; not sure how I managed it but I don't have bad gas. They had me up fairly early. My parents went home to sleep and a gf stayed with me. She's my triathalon friend so she was pushing me to go farther down the hall! I went to bed last night at 10pm and woke up at noon without having taken any meds! I'm pretty stoked! I do have to admit that I'm still pretty hungry tho. I keep thinking I'm on Clear Liquids so I guess I need to break out the Protein shakes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
