Daily calorie consumption?

Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks post surgery and am now eating soft foods. I noticed on the hand out the dr gave me, it had listed the quantity of Protein I should be getting daily, but there was no mention of calories. Approximately how many calories are you consuming daily!!

Donna, I keep my calories between 1000-1400. I try to hit the 1400 about twice a week to keep my metabolism going. I still lose about 2 lbs per week.

my dr says shoot for 600-800! Sometimes I get more some days are less. My goal is to aim for my Protein before I worry about calories. As you know everyone here has very different opinion on calorie consumption. Just do your best.

Is there a good website that keeps track of how many calories by putting in what you've eaten during the day?

I use fitday.com. Some people use dailyplate.com or mycaloriecounter.com

I was told that I don't have to count calories, I just have to make good food choices and follow the bandster rules of eating. Eat lean Protein first, healthy veggies then healthy carbs. But I do know that I generally get around 800-900 calories per day. If you make healthy choices and get at proper restriction, the band should take care of the Portion Control thus controlling calorie intake.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
