got my first fill today

Recommended Posts

So I got my first fill today and let me tell you it was NOTHING. I was so worried that it was going to hurt. I barely felt it at all, seriously! What a breeze! I do have a question though. My doc wanted to put in 2cc's but he could only get 1cc in. I guess it started to come back in the syringe. I know they start off slow, but does anyone know the reason why they wouldn't be able to get more in at 1 time? I am worried that at my next fill, which is in 2 weeks that they will only be able to get 1cc in at a time. Can everyone tell me how much Fluid is in their band and how many fills it took to get them to their "sweet spot"

Thanks in advance!:smile2:

Also were you put on liquids for the first day and then allowed mushies the next day?

The PA at my surgeon's office normally put 3-4ccs in 11cc bands. I told her I wanted half of that. She put in 2cc and then had to pull 1cc out, because I was too restricted. So...I have 1cc in my 11cc band for now.:cool2:

you were too restricted with 2cc's? Wow I got 1cc my first fill, just had my second one yesterday of 2 so right now I have 3cc's and I feel nothing lol. I guess its different for everyone. Another member on here told me he had his first fill today and they put 4.5 cc's in the first time. I thought that sounded like alot for the first time. I guess each doctor does it differently.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
