figuring out this site

Recommended Posts

I'm lost, is this where I am suppose to put my first post? I clicked on FAQ and it said that page could not be found. Is "a new thread" the same thing as a new post? I just found at the bottom of the page the button that said "new thread"

My surgery was a week ago Monday and I am having some pain issues with what someone called esophageal spasms. Any one heard of them???

This is a new thread, and we post on it welcome to the site. It's won't take you time to figure out things. No haven't heard of them, but I was in pain for about a week and a half after my surgery now I am feeling great. It takes time. Join the September 2008 group it's in the forums list.

Take care and this is the place for answers to any of your questions.

I was just in the ER two weeks ago for the same spasms. They gave me a GI coctail to stop them and I got better. I was having them because I was drinking ice cold Protein shakes.....like icy milkshakes. They started the spasms which in turn over stimulated the vegus (sp) nerve which threw my heart out of sync. Was a bad day for me. :rolleyes2:

The GI coctail numbed everything from my lips to my stomach and stopped the spasms. I was better within about 30 minutes after suffering for about 6 hours total.

Okay, call me a dummy, I still cant seem to figure out how to post on the general "new posts" section. What is the difference between a post and a thread? Thank you, Dneise

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
