Although I'm not new to the site (I've been "snooping" for quite some time now), this is officially my first post. I've learned so much from this website. I just received the call about my official surgery date today so I thought it appropriate to make my membership with LBT official as well. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. My mother and I are going through this process together (HI MOM, cuz I know you're reading this) and I know it will bring us together in a way we hadn't discovered yet. She's always been a big part of my support system throughout my life and I cant' wait to return the favor after she gets her band too. This site is great and I'm glad I found it. Good luck to everyone in your weight loss Quest. May you always seek after the good things in life and always find what you seek!

Love,

AngelicOne

How cool is that - to have a band buddy - and it's your mom!!! Having someone to share the ups and downs with is a special blessing. It's possible that each of you may have totally different experiences as no two people are the same. Be happy for each other's successes and try not to make it a competition. At times you will need need to be the cheerleader for each other. Best of luck and success to both of you!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
