Denied because of psych eval... why?

Recommended Posts

No, it is not a scare tactic. All psych evals have something called a lie scale. These are questions on there that are "duh" questions like true/false, I have NEVER told a lie. We've all told a lie before and if you answer true, you will score higher on the lie scale. If you score above a certain number (each test is different), you will invalidate the test. They will also ask the same question in several ways to see how consistent your answers are. If you are truthful, you will answer it consistently. It's always best to answer truthfully. If something comes out that makes you incompatible, then its better to find out now than after the surgery.

Keep trying....I "passed" my Psych eval and will be banded on the 16th of October...However, I was in class with a lady who failed it x3 and finally got a date...she got second opinions! Good Luck!

I still can't believe any of you had to take any written test. I basically just sat and gabbed with the lady and gave her $75.

One of my very good friends is a shrink. I know from support group that my surgeon has just become a center of excellence, and they have more people than they can handle. I asked his nurse at support group if they needed anyone to do psych evals and she said yes, that people have to wait to get into the person they have been using.

I gave her my friend's card and now he is going to start doing psych evals.

Now I can find out what they are looking for and what he has to tell them for people to get approved for surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
