I had my surgery on the 4th of August. I too had these same symptoms. I had a terrible time getting rid of the surgical gas. They said the more walking you do the faster you will be rid of it. My problem was when I walked it didn't do the trick so I called the nurse and she gave me permission to use chewable gasx. It did the trick.

About the BM....water, Water, Water. This will help.

If you were given any pain meds they can cause Constipation.< /p>

I also experienced sloshing after I drank and got moving...this is normal also until the swelling from the surgery goes down. When I experienced the sloshing it was the only time so far I had any nausea. I had my first fill this week. I'm down 35 lbs from the pre op consult.

Good luck!;)

2-4 weeks is definitely to long to go without a bowel movement. I had the same problem and when I called my Dr., I was told to to take a small amount of liquid Miralax and it worked great. I know a lady who had the surgery and was put in the hospital with blockage after not having a BM after 13 days. As for the gas, it does eventually get better, but I still have more gas now than before my surgery. Good luck.

My doctor allowed me to take Milk of Magnesia. It did the trick.

You're not eating solids, so don't expect to go nearly as often. Drink alot of Water, apple juice works well too, get off the pain meds as soon as Tylenol will work well enough, and try a stool softener NOT a laxative if you start feeling bloated. Don't confuse gas with Constipation though. The gas is pretty much a part of the deal early on in your post-op.

I used a heating pad on my belly and shoulder for pain. I also used Gas X strips and they did help. I only had pain for 2-3 days . As for the BM I used Mryolax and that helped so much. Drink lots of Water. Hang in there this shall all pass and you will be on to a new life.

Best of luck to you

That was definitely the worst part for me... the gas. My mom is a nurse and I stayed at her house for my week off. She was like a drill sargeant and forced me to get up and walk around the house (marching to get my abdominal muscles used to moving again)even when I really didn't want to get up. I had gas-x but the taste of it made me gag and dry heave so I had do stop with those.

I had a BM after 5 days. That was even troubling to me because I usually am very regular at 2x a day. My mom assured me that this is normal but it was her "treatment goal" that I have one before I left her care. I couldn't imagine going 2 weeks without one and how uncomfortable it would be. I know for some of my liquids I had some really diluted, fresh squeezed apple juice and I'm sure the Fiber from that helped. I definitely think it was the marching and getting your system working again that helped me.

Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
