Just Found This Site

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone, I am so pleased that I found this site. I was banded on January 14, 2008 and need help. I have had 2 fills and still cannot tell any difference in the amount of food I can eat. I get very hungry and have not found any foods that I cannot eat. Has anyone else had this experience?

I haven't even had 1 fill yet but from my reading and research and what my surgeon has told me, 2 fills in 8 months isn't much at all. I get my 1st fill Oct 9 and was told it make take more than 3-4 times to get my restriction just right. So I think you need a fill ASAP!

Yeah two fills in 8 months is not enough for most people. It all depends on the person but it sounds like it's not enough for you. You should keep getting fills until you feel restricted. Where were you banded? Your doc should know that....

I was band it April and just got restriction about 3 weeks ago. I took me four fills and my band is almost full!

I was banded the month after you and I've had 5 fills. I have just now reached a good restriction point with my band. There are a couple women in my month group that have had only a couple fills too and they are struggling. Hang in there and hopefully you can talk your doctor into being a bit more aggressive with the fills. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
