4 days out - First time Nausea

Recommended Posts

Haven't had any problems before this! First thought I needed to eat, so I had a Protein Shake, and took some meds the doc gave me - in case I felt this. Then felt the wave hit me again. Ran to the bathroom to fight it off, swallowed, rinsed my face and fought it down. I am so afraid to throw up! Why is it hitting me now? Thanks for any advice!

I was banded on Sept. 8th and I was given nausea medicine in my IV to help with nausea, but I was also given pain meds in a tablet form which cause me to throw up everywhere. So you are doing great to just know feel nauseated. I do agree with the other person it could be your meds and I needed liquid meds instead of tablets. Well I hope that you start to feel better. Congrats on being banded.

I was the same way the third day out. I just kind of beared with it and by the next day I felt fine. I don't know what it was either, but I do know that it went away for me. I hope you are feeling better soon!

NinaWoo:

Thank you for the compliment. I have lost alot of weight and I feel great.

I think that the key to my success has been exercise along with following the bandster rules. I was banded by a great surgeon that has a fabulous support group. I go to monthly support group meetings where I learn from the other bandsters.

I exercise 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day and I actually like it.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I was also banded on the 8th, and I can say that I get nauseous when I smell things (cigarettes, yeast, deep fried foods, etc.) and also I had milk and that made me very gassy and nauseated. Call the doc and switch pain meds ... I love my liquid lortab!

I had my surgery on Sept. 4th and I have not had a bowel movement. I am wondering has anyone else experienced anything like this. I never thought to ask my doc about when I'll get back to regular bm's and if I don't have one in a certain amount of time should I be worried.;)

I had surgery on the 8th. I went in Friday for my post-op appointment and asked the surgeon exactly the same question ... he said that b/c of all the narcotics and anesthesia and the reduced amount of "solid" foods, I probably won't have much BM right away.

I was told to include more Fiber to my diet ... I suggest either benefiber or "soy milk plus fiber" to bulk up as it were.

If you're uncomfortable, call the doctor and ask their advice. He told me if I got uncomfortable to take some fleets and it would move things along, so to speak.

I was banded Tuesday (9-9); and I am sick after walking and eatng. So I am into a pattern of eat (actually just drinking); lay down till it passes. I do my daily walking and then come home and lay down till it passes. I suppose that all the swelling in the stomach is the reason. I have prevacid dissolvable tablet; which make me extremely sick. I drink a little Soup and then take the tablet and lay down. Don't know how long this will last

:regular_smile:Thanks for all the replies! I don't know what it was, not taking pain meds anymore or then. I took the anti-nausea meds twice that day, but still threw up, foamy Water that night, then fine. Haven't had the problem since. Probably won't figure out what set it off, just don't want it again!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
