Scheduled for 9/18

Recommended Posts

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself. I am scheduled for my band this Thursday 9/18 at noon. Kind of funny having bariatric surgery at lunch time! I have lost 12 pounds on my liquid diet so far. Down from 312 to 300. I wanted to be less then 300 day of surgery so I think I'll make that goal. Just trying to hang in. How long before you were up and about after surgery? I don't want to be laid up too long.....................

Hi,

My name is Renea and I am having surgery the same day as you! Glad to finally know someone on myday. I am a few hours before you I have to be there at 6am and my actual surgery is around 7am. Maybe we can be band buddies so we can keep up with each other. If you want we can add each other as freinds if you want. I dont have any freinds do you.

I am 47 and weigh alot more than you. as of thursday I have lost 9 pounds i weighed at the surgeons office. but anyway. Happy birthday to us.

Renea

Everyone recovers differently but for me, I was posting here within hours of getting my band. I came to fast, felt a little tight and breathed deeply often to clear my lungs and reduce that "tight" feeling in my chest...needed minimal pain meds, etc. I could drink Water fine from the minute they gave it to me, no nausea, etc. I slept in my bed on my left side the first night(with a pillow to prop me up...it helped) and the next night back on my tummy, as is my "norm". Just make sure you walk walk walk as much as you can!

And I had 2 surgerys, one on 8/11 and the next on 8/29...no issues with either time (except the 1st time I didn't get the band). I think about 95% of my fast recovery was a desire to recover fast! :)

Congrats to both of you. You are being reborn on my mom's birthday. I start my pre-op diet on that day so no cake for me. Thankfully, she is having oral surgery that day so no cake for her either. Anyway, good luck to both of you on your journey.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
