Question for those that are banded

Recommended Posts

I am getting the brand new lapband that holds 10cc, the doc said he will put in 4cc during surgery for some restriction right off the bat. Does anyone else know if they fill your band at all during surgery???

yeah I was just a little surprised I never even

thought of having Fluid in the band from the get go.

Good luck girl!

Sometimes you get cold feet a few days out but all is good

it is just your body in pain talking.

My band was put in "pre-filled" also and I definately have some restriction. The nurse was actually afraid that I was too tight (but my barium swallow said differetly).

I feel that "heart attack" sensation with a big belch and it sucks!! I've also had some sliming episodes already (from the severe nausea that I had post-op)

I have the 10cc as well, but my doc left it empty. I have my first fill on 10/1. But, I am losing weight. I can feel it in my clothes. I just can't see it yet.

I have a 10cc band which was filled to 5.5. durring surgery. I asked my surgeon why he filled after placement and was told it helped to secure and reduce slippage

I will have my first fill in two weeks but no one told me if he will fill at the time of surgery. This is nerve wracking.

I have a 10cc band as well, and my doctor said that he pre-filled it will only 1cc. I must say, I was banded on Sept. 8 and my stomach didn't growl until Sept. 14, but as of now, I get extremely hungry after 2-4 hours after I've eaten something. So, I am looking forward to my first fill. I either drink Water or eat ice chips just in case I am really not hungry. If that doesn't work than I get something to eat.

I have the "smaller band" that my surgeon uses (he uses the 7 and 10 cc bands). So I assume the 10, but won't know until the first. I have no Fluid in it. This surgeon's policy is to put none in it yet. I can't imagine having Fluid in it, as I'm seriously not hungry, and can feel air going thru the band.

My surgeon said that he will not put any fill in during surgery. He said that they won't due any fill until at least 4 weeks out plus, he won't tell me what he puts in. He dues the fills with fluro. I guess I will see how that works soon.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
