WOOOW. scariness. the worst part is that it HURTS after the injection. i get huge bruises, red .. spots from where i gave the shot, i think. and i just did one and its bleeding, like *tiny tiny*. but still....i hate them lol. if they weren't as painful afterwards, i would be... BARELY ok with them.

here is one that is kinda bigger than my hand lol. (from day after surgery)*GROSS*

HI there. I too am doing the Lovenox shots. I had to start them two days before my surgery, which is tomorrow 9/10. I am also a nurse so I am use to giving these shots to other people. it is harder to give them to yourself i agree. All I can say is pinch the area you are going to inject and then go in quick. those little needles are pretty sharp and really small. Don't let go of the pinch until you have withdrawn the needle. That shouild decrease some of the bruising. There is nothing to be done about the burning. It will be over with before you know it. Kind of like the killer liquid diet. I think diet is worse than the shots. Good luck.

I too gave myself the Lovenox shots. The nurse is right. Pinch, hold and poke. It only goes in about an inch or so. Be sure your site is good and clean before you inject. I was amazed that it was so easy to do. Good luck.

very true. MAN, the one i did tonight...the "trigger" got stuck, before anything was injected, and it made a click noise and finally started to inject, but my pressure caused it to go WHAM! into me, and that hurt lol. stupid syringe. it was a delayed "take off" lol.

and yessssss, liquid diet is hard! i am so hungry. its been 16 days of no food so far. i have 11 left. bleh!

Why do you guys need to be on these injections? I hope I'm not being too rude, but is it to do with the weight, like if your over a certain weight you have a much higher risk of DVT so therefor you have to have the shots? I just can't think why. I was 222lbs on the day of surgery. I had the injection the day I was in hospital but that was it, no more.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
