Just had my 3rd fill last week...and now it hurts to eat

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill in my Realize band last week, going from 5cc to 6cc. The first 24 hours were miserable...I could only drink a little Water at time and definitely no food. I can now drink without any problem but it hurts to eat almost everything. The only way I can describe this pain is to say that as soon as a take a bite and swallow I get a major feeling of heartburn. I have been practically living on Tums the last week. There are a few foods that I can eat ok without this major heartburn, but not much. Is it possible that I may need an unfill? I had very little restriction up until this last fill and now it seems way too much. I have another appointment with the doctor in 1 1/2 weeks. Should I wait until then and give it more time? Has anyone else had a problem like this?

I had the same type of feelings after my last fill, but after a few days it went away. Things seem to be okay now. I just had to take a little more time chewing my food and taking smaller bites.

I had the same feelings for about 2 days and then it eased quite a bit. I went from 3.4 to 6 in the realize band. But still have to eat real small bites , really chew. Small amounts too.

Thanks everyone. I will wait until my next scheduled doctor's appt. to see if this eases up a little. I want to be restricted and not eat as much as I did in the past. But I don't want every bite to be pain filled either.

I had my 3rd fill in July and it STILL is uncomfortable..even if I drink too much at a time, it feels like a brick and up it comes!! There are some foods you can eat and some you cannot. I cannot eat any kind of bread, chicken, salmon, potatoes (even mashed), but I take Protein Powder ever single morning (with a cup of coffee in it and some 1% milk) so I don't really think I'm malnourished. But, bottom line is IF YOU ARE WORRIED, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR, THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR. D. PS..I'll bet the tums don't really help???

Yeah, I can't eat mashed potatoes or bread either. And it is a little difficult to swallow liquid too. I can eat any kind of grilled fish as long as I only eat a bite or two of it. But beef and chicken are totally out of the question.

I haven't been able to drink my Protein shakes since I had this last fill. I really don't like them and to suffer when drinking them is too much to ask.

I think I am going to ask to have a little of the fill removed next week unless this is very much improved. I at least want to be able to drink in peace.

I'd say yes you need a slight unfil and run don't walk to the doc to get it. I had the same thing happen to me last week. I knew right away when I couldn't even swallow a spoon full of yogurt. My doc said if I'd waited like most people would have needed a complete ufill then would have to wait to get a fill again later.

Call your doc you know your body better to go slow.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
