Am I totally re-re??

While I understand that some people are sensitive about the word retarded, I don't that word has been regularly used to describe people with intellectual challenges for at least two decades so I also understand that to some people the word has little power.

The " N " word has been used for 100 years but it has not please in our vocabulary.

OMG I totally agree with Kelgirl68!!!!!!!! Not to mention Kellster apologized twice.

Agreed we should all accept her apology but lets face it the second one was great until she added the word HOWEVER.

That being said I am sure she is sorry.

There is absolutely no comparison between the two.

REALLY, not to a child who has been branded and teased as being a Retard!! They know they are different and feel pain when verbally abused. Hopefully you will never have to dry the eyes of a 7 year old, several times a week and try to explain why people are so mean! Same feeling as someone verbally abusing an overweigh person daily by calling them names. It is not acceptable.

You can rant on about this but I am done responding to ignorance.

I canNOT even believe people would defend something like this. Even my 7 and 5 year olds know better than to use the word retarded. My 7 year old has special needs and has been referred to in that way, both by children and adults. You can't even imagine how much it hurts until you (or your child) are the one being called that.

It's never, never okay to use that word in such a vile way. And people who do should be very ashamed.

Saying sorry, then in the same breath saying they won't be PC is as good as never saying sorry. I don't buy that she even understands how awful it really is to use that word in that way.

It's over now. Can we drop it and move on please? I don't believe it has anything to do with the original topic anyway, does it?

Wow.

Attack Harpies, in squadron. Impressive... :tongue2:

Harpies you say? We are far more attractive than the harpies I have seen in books and photos... So you cannot be talking about me, or the lovley She, or any of the other good ladies who found the term "Re-re" in very poor taste.

Libra, the OP was addressed. She knows what DH stands for now. I just wanted to know what she meant. It really is awful to use that word. I don't care how un-PC a person is. Using the name of a disability (or a variation of) to say you are silly / stupid / dumb is just bloody awful.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
