Denison/Sherman?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I was banded on June 10th in Mexico and just found out today that we are moving to the Denison/Sherman Texas area. Right now I live in Washington State so this is a big move for us.

Just wondering if there are any lapband support groups or any dr's that do fills?

If not then where do you do your fills?

Thanks for any info! looking forward to this new adventure in my life!

I lived in Sherman for about seven years ... I live in Oklahoma City now. My guess is you'll have to go Dallas, less than an hour away (depending on traffic of course!). I'm going to be banded July 1 and intend to go to Dr. Maese in Dallas for fills. I know there are other fill doctors in Dallas that others on this board will tell you about.

Good luck in Sherman!!

I know that your post is kind of old, but I noticed you only got one suggestion -

The Sherman Denison area is really nice - I really hope that you enjoy it!!!

It is only about an hour south to Dallas - there are a number of Doctors that have their patients fill at the Surgery Center of Richardson. Dr. Powell, Benavides, Allen, Bryce and many more. I have heard good things about all of them. The website for the entire group is www.lapbandsolutions.com

They seem to have been doing a number of bandings and I know that Dr. Benavides does the aftercare for a number of patients banded in Mexico. That might be a challenge with some of the other Dr.'s - I am not sure.

I had my band placed at Surgery Center of Richardson and the people are very nice and it is a nice facility.

Good luck and welcome to Texas!!

Oh - I forgot to mention - they also have a support group with this group of Doctors - the next meeting is July 16th and again on the 30th at 11:00am, so I am not sure if you have moved or not, but the dates, times and place are all listed on that website. I haven't been to one yet, but am planning to go to this one on the 15th.

Good luck withthe Move if you haven't moved yet and maybe we will see you at the meetings!!

My company just got finished supplying materials to build two new surgery centers off of Loy Lake Road in Sherman. You might go by in a month or so after they are closer to being completed and see why type of surgery centers they end up being. All I know them as is the Sherman Surgery Center and Grayson County Ambulatory. You can find more information about these two new centers at www.foundationsurgery.com . Good luck...

After I got to work this morning I did some more research and found the following info... One of them will be officially called Heritage Park Surgery Center. If you click the link below it will take you to a list of the doctors at that facility. Once again I have no clue if any of the doctor's will do banding. It may be worth a try to save you the hour drive down to Richardson. I was unable to dig up anymore information about the other new center which located next door. Again I wish you the best of luck...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
