Has anyone been "preparing"?

Recommended Posts

I spent my last weekend enjoying things I won't be eating again. My husband and I went to my favorite restaurant and I had a little good bye party for the old me. I needed to do that and was ready on Monday to start my pre-op diet. I even had a mixed drink in a small plastic trash can that I got to keep. I brought the can home, washed it and I think I'm going to put slips of paper in it to represent the pounds I lose as well as negative thoughts. I know it sounds corny, but I think it will help. Every going away party needs a going away present, right?

MustangGirl my kind of lady we all need that good-bye party. Had that discussion with my Physiologist on mixed drinks he told me to have one and say good-bye. Well being compulsive like we are that takes planning. For me that will be a 8 oz Martini Glass made wet with extra dry vermouth 6 oz Vodka fill the glass with ice topped with 4 very large jalapeño stuffed olives. Now take that drink out on the back porch put a 1-1/4 lb Rib-Eye Steak on the Weber Grill cook diner and enjoy my last drink. But I am not done yet after enjoying that wonderful Steak it’s time for desert right. For me that is a large bowl of chocolate ice cream of course with chocolate chips, floating in Hershey’s dark chocolate Syrup, covered with nuts, whip cream and those little red cheers. Now take the spoon put it back in the drawer get out a large bag of chocolate chip Cookies to use for the spoon. :smile2:

So old goat, I'm with you! My goodbye was tonight with Mexican food and margaritas! We have the same surgery date.....maybe we should be buddies! (Although my kids would call me the crazy bird lady rather than old goat...:smile2:....I have six parrots....) Tomorrow I start a preop diet to get things going. I share some of the other posts issues....insurance problems and a cancelled initial date sent me into a tail spin and a 10 pound gain. I need to get my head in a good place now and I think a preop diet is just the way to get ready.....

Well bird lady if you want to buddy with an old goat sounds good to me. But I must warn you and I do issue a get out of jail free card. At my age I don’t have an over I have read where people went to the sleeve after the Band and some with RNY have added the Band and so on. What this means for me is that I will be doing it by the Book. Keeping journals, food, Water logs now and will report should I stumble. I will surround myself with winners. Let me know if this is what you are looking for?

I see you have your first real opportunity, O my 18 days on a preop diet what a chance to drop 18 or 20 lbs right out of the gate. I has told a couple of months ago that I would only have two days of a preop diet, just could not bring myself to go 14 days fasting on my own, and why I put myself on the low carb diet a couple of Months ago.

Well, my surgery is scheduled for 11/03. 2 more days. I can't stand it!:) My Doc requires a 2 week full liquid pre-op diet. It has been hard, to say the least, but it is good preparation for days to come. I have lost 17lbs so far with two more days to go. I wanted to make the 20lb mark but am not sure if I'll quite make it. None the less, 17 lbs in less than 2 weeks is nothing short of a miracle for me. Everybody hang in there. All of this will pay off soon.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
