Has anyone had their port moved or repositioned? If so, what does it entail? Mine is still sticking way out where it is noticeable after 9 weeks - Thanks!

My doc said if my port started sticking out he'd give me a low profile one so I'd check with your doc.

I'm very obese so he said for me it would be a while.

However, he put my port smack in the middle of my abdomen...not sure how that's going to work (I feel like one of those inflatable doll women LOL) I'll be interested to see if anyone has had their port moved....

I just had my port moved last week and was switched to a low profile. It is SUCH a huge difference. I had a Tummy Tuck and it was moved and sticking out like a baby's foot. The replacement surgery itself was pretty easy, other than they pulled too much and slipped my band. So now I am unfilled for 6 weeks and they are hoping it will fix itself. I am dissapointed it is still visable, but nothing like it was. SO if I don't have to have my band fixed it was worth it. I have 1 small incision and that is it.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. Mine is in my lower belly ares & it changes from week to week. It was sticking out, then it was indented, then flush, then indented...

mine is bottom left, and now it hurts a bit during sit ups etc.

and i can feel it without pocking. does this mean I should have it moved. I have lost a lot of weight, and the port is my only problem so far.

I got my band on 6/30/08 and am having problems with my port as well. I can look down at my stomach and see an bump where my port is. I had a newer procedure where they used only 2 incisions (one in the belly button and the other just under my ribs on my right side).

The port has also "relocated" itself. It was just under the incision in the beginning and the doc said he sutured the band with mesh to the muscles in my stomach...but it is now pushing into my belly button and every time my kids bump into me or I bump it, it feels very tender and sometimes very painful. My doc makes a weird face and a comment every time I go for a fill about how he's concerned for it moving but really hasn't mentioned any immediate concerns for repositioning the port anytime soon.

I go again this Tuesday for my 3rd fill....and hope it'll be my last fill.....

WOW if you are bumping it seems to me like it needs to be moved! Poor thing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
