My Time to Shine!!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, :wink2:

I have been a member of this forum before i even knew i was having the surgery, but something inside me told me it was going to happen.. and it did!!! I just had surgery this past monday 8-25-08 and have been healing well. I am a little sore but i am soaring in the sky knowing that i have so many goals and soon nothing can stand in the way of them!! I topped out at 608 pounds, and at the time of surgery i weighed 583. Any tips or ideas suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated!

I am really just so happy to know there is a place where people can get together and chat about this.

I am going to keep exploring, keep being faithful, and definetly know that everything will be wonderful and healthy here on out!!!

Thanks Briana:thumbup:

You go girl!! Just stay as positive as you are right now and you will do great. I am so proud of you. I will have my surgery on 9-26. Glad to hear you are not to sore. I have never had surgery and am a little worried.

Hey you started your new journey on my birthday, so we kinda have the same birthday now!!

Congratulations and welcome! It's great to see someone close to my age who has a lot to lose (like I do) and has already started on their journey. I've found a lot of info and support in this forum so far, and I am still working toward getting banded myself. I especially liked the forums for people in their twenties, and the one for how much weight you have to lose. It was comforting knowing that these people were coming from where I am at and that they were facing issues that I have concerns about.

Again, welcome and WOOHOO!

Welcome Bri82! It's nice to see another larger lady around here (I started at 405)!!! We'll be at it a little longer than our fellow bandsters who have less to lose than we do (well, at the weight loss portion of banding anyway)....hope to see you "around"

Hi Briana,

Welcome to the Lapband family and congrats on your surgery! That great attitude is what will get you to your goal. Nice meeting you on-line and good luck on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
