Does anyone find reading about people's experiences or talking about their own triggering? Last weekend I posted about bulimic type experiences before the band and how that effected me after the band. Since then I've been throwing up every night meal.

My stomach feels really inflamed and I'm scared about doing damage. I'm supposed to be getting a fill next week but i'm worried it will be too much and i'll be having involuntary reflux.

Why do I go down this track? I know it is wrong but i'm struggling here.

josygirl-

Stop everything and go on liquids. Your poor little stomach can't handle food right now after all that pbing.

The second thing I'd recommend is to get yourself to a counselor. Bulimia is one of the only things that will stop you from even getting the band- most doctors won't touch you with a ten foot pole if you have a history. You can do some very serious damage. I would strongly recommend that, now that you have the band, you get some help. Getting the band is a highly emotional event that can trigger relapses in things like eating disorders, alcoholism, and obessesive excercise.

Hang in there, and be kind to yourself.

Hi Megan

I was never asked about my eating habits before I had the band. Probably just as well cause i'm a terrible liar. I do have a counsellor but she is on holidays at the moment and I'm really struggling. I don't need a counsellor I need a security guard for my mouth!

Yes I agree with Meagan, you need ot go on liquids for atleast 24 hours after you throw up, it becomes a vicious cycle if you do not, your esophagus is most likely inflammed and swollen, also remember that frequent vomiting can result in slippage. If you are having trouble with PBing or vomiting, please wait to see if it gets better by doing liquids before you get a fill, you are asking for troulbe if you don't. Most Dr's will not igve a fil lif they know you are having such frequent PB's, to them it is a sign you could be too tight all ready, please becompletely honest withyour Dr. in regards to this matter.

I had a PB so bad and did not do liquids for 24 hours like I was told too and I regret it to this day, I continued to eat everyday and I had the worst case of esophagitis for2 weeks I was on nothing butliquids and it was very painful.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
