I was told strickly to eat only 3 times a day and just half a teacup for now.. and slowly work my way up to 1 full teacup. NO Snacks my dr. stresses. Why? Is it because if you snack you won't loose as much, or does it have something to do with the band? Do you snack? I'm curious!

For me I find it easier not to snack. When I snack i gradually eat more each day. I'm better off just having the 3 meals a day and going with that. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules - its what works for you.

My doctor discourages snacking. I usually have my 1st meal at 7, 2nd at 12 and 3rd at 5. If I don't have anything else, sometimes I feel nauseous in the morning so I have been having a SF popsicle. But I know snacking got me in the weight problem so I'm really trying hard not to.

My doctor said that I could eat my 3 meals each day plus 2 small Snacks if I needed them. I was told what a snack size was though, and it's basically enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Not a meal size snack (like I ate before I was banded). I hope this helps some.

I basically try to pay attention to my body though. If I'm not hungry I don't eat. Before I got banded if I was offered food, I'd eat it no matter if I was hungry or not. Now I can go to my mom's and have her offer me something, and if I'm not hungry it's easy to say no.

Thank the Lord for my band!

I snack in between meals here at work. I usually eat P&B crackers so it is not to bad.

At home when my time is filled there is no time to snack.

I used to snack all the time when I wasn't properly restricted. Now that I'm at a great level, I hardly snack. In fact, a meal for me looks like what a snack used to before. A piece of beef Jerky and a cheese stick...etc. But when I wasn't filled right, I was still hungry all the time. I'm sure that is why my weightloss hasn't been the most rapid, but I'm still happy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
