True? Divorce after WLS within 3 years? Why?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I got divorced but we are now back together. At first he would tell you it changed me for the worse...now for the better. Yes I am more confident. But I know who I am as a person and where I want to be. I would tell ALL couples that have 1 person going thru a big weight loss or even if both are...if you wanna stay together get counseling BEFORE the big weight loss journy starts. That way you both know what to expect and can work thru it together!!!!

thank you for your advice. we are looking into counseling now i hope its not to late she has lost a 1oo lbs all ready

Interesting discussion. When I talked to the psych doc before being banded, it was one of the things he talked about. I didnt have a good marriage but wasnt looking to leave, but within a year of being banded, my father passed and then within 6mths of that we separated and divorced. It has been a very difficult 2 yrs. My 3 yr Bandaversary is this Saturday. I think that if you have a weak marriage, it can break it. For me there has been sooo much in my life. I had a dbl mastectomy 4 yrs ago, and he was not there for me. I had 12 breast tumors, 9 lumpectomies and my risk for breast cancer was huge, my doctor advised that I have the mastectomy, I went to grief counseling and made the decision. I do not regret that decision at all. This was a huge precursor to knowing he wouldnt be there for me when my Daddy passed or for me when I had WLS. When things are weak, it doesnt take much to break it.

I am so glad I found this thread and have spent the last few hours reading it (wow). My husband and I have no relationship anymore and our sex life is non existant. Im not banded yet but should be oct 11. Im doing this for me, my self esteem, my confidence, and to feel good about myself, dammit! But I'm also hoping that it'll bring my husband back to me. When he gets home from work, he hugs and kisses everyone (including our animals) except me. Im hoping that this surgery will improve or marraige for the better but now I'm concerned. Im unhappy, I'm sure he is too, and now Im scared its just going to bee the thing that ends it all.

What we were taught about it at Seminar: They feel better, then they look better, so now the figure they can do better, if they find another.

I guess it's got truth to it for some people that I met, at Monthly meetings that were Divorced.

But I never went looking...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
