Fill Question: Is this normal?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill 3-4 weeks ago. I weighed 226 at the time. After my fill, I think I had excellent restriction. I got full quite quickly. Stayed full for a long time. I could eat most things, but I really felt tight with bread and even tighter with chicken. My doctor gave me 3 ccs in a 10 cc band, plus I had 2 ccs in there from surgery. So . . . 5 ccs in a 10 cc band total. My restriction was so good. I was contemplating canceling my second fill.

Now, I am down to 217 pounds. About 5 days ago, it's as if I have no restriction at all. AT ALL. Bread and chicken go down super easy. I'm not having to chew as diligently as before. I am getting hungry!

Is this normal? Is this why my second fill is just automatically scheduled? I guess in all my research, I just didn't think that you could go from good restriction to no restriction so quickly.

Weird. Your thoughts, please! Thank you!

Everyone's so different during this process. You have to grasp hold of the fact that your insides are getting smaller in order for the outside to "appear" smaller. Thus...less fat around your band just like everywhere else. Makes the band looser, so you need another fill. I had them every 3 weeks almost, now I've had 15 fills total. Haven't needed one for 4 months now. Yippee! Only have a few more lbs. to loose. Needing fills is a good sign things are happening. Keep up the good work, it's well worth it!

I have 7 fills. Everybody is different, but maybe it's time for another fill.

I'm making funny noices when I swallow. I tutor some kids and they stare at me and ask me why I'm making funny noises ha! ha!

The stares I get at restaurants and at confeences when I'm eating so slowly.

When you lose weight you lose fat around the stomach and typically need another fill. This is all normal. You need a fill. I have heard people go as much 7ccs or more in 10cc without a problem.

I'm really paying close attention to posts and answers on here regarding fills since I'm just beginning with a sequence of fills.

The replies make perfect sense, but I never thought about the fat ON your stomach going away as a reason for a fill.

Thanks for starting this thread San Diego Photo Girl!

My second fill is Tuesday and looking forward to it!

In addition to what has been added, your tummy swells after a fill (the reason most are on liquids, then softs, then regular foods after a fill). Some people the swelling takes weeks to go down. Your swelling may have taken longer to go down along with your AWESOME weightloss - could account for the difference.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I had my second fill today, so I am now at 6ccs in a 10cc band. My next apptmt is in 4 weeks instead of 5, so hopefully if I do get to that point where I am super hungry again, I will get my fill in faster this time. But hopefully 6 will last me awhile.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
