Ellen -On the waist front, I lost about 4" instantly, and then I have lost another 2-3 as the swelling has gone down. This is partly why I intend to go back and have some more lard cut out, I sooooo want that coke bottle shape, and a do have a fairly good ass even if I say so myself.

On the hotel front I stayed at the Reine Astrid, which isn't cheap, but instead of a room you get a mini apartment, with a lounge area and a kitchen. It worked out at about 150 Euros per night, I stayed on for another 2 weeks after the week in hospital, mainly cos I didn't want to be too far from Pascal if something went wrong (like one of my nips dropping off - no wait, that is the next lot of surgery) I am a 'better than safe than sorry' mentality when it comes to bits of me dropping off.

Discuss the pain pump with the anaethetist, but make sure that you dont leave it as an option, or you wont get one, I made that mistake! Be firm and tell her that is the pain relief that you want.

I am chatting to another woman who is going out to see Pascal in September for a LBL and have been emailing her tips and hints I will copy and paste the advice I have given her if you want. Have you set a fixed date with him yet?

Frangi -Not the BVI unfortunately, I would love to hook up, but I am off to Jamaica!!! Cant wait, I have been to Cuba before, but I have never been somewhere that has the Jamaican vibe, so I am a big bundle of excitement! I have heard that crime can be an issue but , hell I used to live in Manchester (or Gunchetser as it was fondly known) so I am sure that I will be able to keep my nose clean for 8 weeks!

My sister loves the Amalphi Coast, I have thought about moving within Europe, but I have to consider the language barrier for the kids. I reckon that if I do 8 weeks a year in the sun I might be content....... I hate the weather here! The place that I live at the moment is very rural and quite isolated from the rest of the UK, but it is very very safe. Are you talking about the Fijian Islands? My sis loved them when she went round the world, she keeps telling me to go there!

How come you live out there then? Were you born there, or is it work related?

Good grief, I just reread this and realized that I wrote a novel! Sorry about hijacking your thread like that Pink!!! Nina got me started on travel, which is the thing I would be doing 24/7/365, if I could -- and is definitely something I plan to get back to in earnest once I finish getting this body put back together :)!

Let me do a little editing..............

Hey Nina,

The Marquesas are part of French Polynesia, which is a French territory. They are absolutely stunningly beautiful (as are many of the islands in French Poly) and there is virtually no crime problem whatsoever.

Jamaica is beautiful and great and you'll have a lot of fun. Jamaica is a HUGE island (compared to many of these islands, such as mine) with lots to see and do. Crime is a problem there, but there (as here) it's pretty much like traveling to any large city, and anyone with a little "street smarts" (which it sounds like you definitely have) will be absolutely fine. Let me know when it gets closer to the time, and maybe I'll head over there for a few days. I'd love to meet you!

I'm here in the Caribbean because of my husband's work. I like it here, but I don't have children and if I did that (of course) would change everything. Many people who move here with children find it a challenging place to live -- for themselves as well as the children.

I think your idea about spending 8 weeks in the Caribbean is a good one. If you are able to do that on a fairly regular basis, you and your family should easily get your fill of warmth and sunshine -- as well as having an interesting cultural experience.

Well this sight has been interesting. I'm going to check out the Makemeheal link. Thanks. It does take a while for Lipo to give you the final result, so hang in there!

Karey,

Did you have lipo done the first time around? I could have sworn that I did when I had my TT, but I asked my Dr. about this during my last appointment and he said no.

Yup, I had Lipo. According to my doc, they took out 3 pounds of fat with the lipo. I have to say that lipo hurts. I even had some damage to a nerve in my hip from the lipo. It is feeling better now, but I couldn't cross my legs for a while. So, why have more lipo? It does amazing things for your body contours. I'm a sucker for punishment. It's free weight loss, etc. LOL!

Nina

Thanks for the advice. I'm very relieved that you are happy with your experience. I kind of wondered as you vanished off the site some time after your op and I wondered if maybe you werent all that happy with the result.

I'm due for slicing on 9th Oct.

One more question for you. Did you ever discuss with Dr Pascal swapping a low profile post for the one you had? Since Ive lost weight and had Lipo on my stomach the port area really sticks out now (didnt get lipoed around it). Am getting a bit nervous aboutt damage to my post as both Boo Boo Kitty and Kareyquilts have had slippage post - Tummy Tuck I think. Did you have any problems with your post after the op? I wonder how much experience Dr Pascal has had with lap bandees, any idea?

Ellen

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
