The cost of a Fill

Recommended Posts

How much does each fill cost you? I'm going for my 4th fill tomorrow and the nurse told me to bring $150.00. I said, it was $100.00, to which she replied, they are now doing each fill with a barium swallow, so it's done using an x-ray!

How much do you guys pay?

Wow, such a range of costs!

I was a self-pay for surgery and have always been self-pay for fills. I am looking for a fill doctor (in Ann Arbor, Michigan area) and the only place I can get a quote from (Dr. Nunn) told me $300 for first one and $150 each additional. OUCH! I hope at that cost he will give me the amount of fill I want and not play the .5-cc-at-a-time game.

I don't pay for my fills, and neither does my friend who has the same doctor. I think they are covered for a year after the surgery. (16K, insurance paid). For that, I guess it should be covered!

I don't pay anything, and I'll never have to.

I'm Australian so I dont know if that makes a difference. But with the surgery, because I had private health insurance, it cost $3000. Every visit after that will be bulk billed, including fills and just general consultations.

The only time it'll cost, is if I have to have more surgery.

Im paying $200 each, and driving 5 hours round trip to get this price. So far I only got one fill and it was so tiny, waste of time and money. 1.8 cc and Iv got a 10 cc band.

Nothing like feeling like Im throwing money out the window.

I'm in LA and I got banded in Mexico, it was difficult to find a reasonable place to get fills. Most places wanted to charge at least $300 and were too far away. I found this one guy working out of a store front clinic near LAX. He charges 200 and will pretty much put in however much you want. I didn't really like him personally - he told me I'd be "perfect at 120 lbs" which I found offensive - but he said he used to work with Top Surgeons, those people with the billboards all over the city and has done about 1000 surgeries. The clinic is called something like "LAX Urgent Care" and their number is 310-846-9777.

Luckily I was able to get my aftercare done through Kaiser and now all my fills are free. I just have to drive to Ventura but I really like the nurse who does my fills and there's shopping nearby so the 60 mile drive is worth it.

The first fill was free, and after that it's $100 (with my insurance). It's $150 if you're cash pay. It depends on how Dr's offices bill the insurance too. Mine bills it as an outpatient surgical code (don't even ask me how that's considered surgery, but whatever), so I have to pay an outpatient surgery co-pay, not the $30 I would pay for a regular visit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
