No Energery

Recommended Posts

:D:sleep:I was banded on July 2nd 2008 and feel fine. I did get sick on July 12th and was placed back into the hospital with an infected colon but every since then everything (health wise) has been fine. I have noticed that I have no energery. My husband said that I was getting old. I don't want to get up or exercise. Would you call that lazy? I fall asleep on my husband everynight and sleep until noon everyday since I've been off. I don't even think I lost any weight yet and thats depressing me. Now Iam going back to work and everybody is expecting me to look different and I don't. I take my Vitamins everyday but the only thing I don't do is the Protein. Iam having a hard time drinking that nasty stuff!! Does anyone have any pointers for me to get off the couch and start living life again? I had this band done to make me feel better and so far its not working. Then on top of that I don't have my first fill until Aug 28th because the doctor is booked, and I still have to call that day because they couldnt give me a time to come in. I know things have to get better, I just need advise! Thanks

I have the same band as you. You won't really lose weight until you get to good restriction level. It took me 7 fills. All people are different. I just wish someone would have told me I would be hungry for so long. I've lost 35 pounds in 6 months. Only really had restriction for about 2 months. This is a big step. You could be having a little depression. The Protein Drinks are hard. I finally went with pro-complex from GNC. It tastes ok and has 60 grams of Protein. Give yourself a break. This is a big life change. Explain to people your in the healing stage and have no restriction in your band yet. Normal weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week. Slow but steady. You can do this remember it's long term weight loss not a race. It took me a long time to really believe this. Of course we want the weight off now! Try a different powder you don't want to have Hair loss. Best of luck. Chrissie

You could just be lacking Protein. I found early on after my surgery if I didn't get in 60 mg of protein I felt weak and tired. If you are eating enough maybe you are just depressed. It is a hugh adjustment to make. Hang in there. Time will take care of it. Right now you arn't seeing any reward for your hard work. Once you do it will get lighter at the end of the tunnel.

What are you using for Protein Drinks? ? There are a lot of different varieties to try.. you need to find an alternative source or you could also start to lose your hair.. when do you get to eat different foods??

Hi Carmille,

Definitely sounds like you've had a bit of a rough time with things. Also not cool that it's so difficult for you to get in for a fill. Hopefully things will look up for you.

As for the lack of energy, a lack of Protein will DEFINITELY do that for you. Also, you could be lacking in Iron. If you're not getting enough protein, then chances are you aren't getting enough iron either. Both of those will go a long way in affecting your energy. Try to up your protein, and look for a good Multivitamin with plenty or iron in it. If your doctor's office has a dietician, speak with him/her about ways to add protein/iron to your diet.

Maybe you can also start adding a little bit of walking when you can, and work your way up. I'm only one week out from banding, but it's definitely been hard for me to get my usual 30-40 minutes of walking in. I'm lucky if I can make it 20 minutes without wearing out. But I keep trying every day, and I'm noticing that it keeps getting a little easier with time and practice.

I think little changes in those 3 things will help you see a change in your energy levels.

Best of luck and take care!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
