Thank you, I have checked and they do cover it but I was just wondering how long it takes after the final visit with my Dr. I will have to wait...a month 2 months..a few weeks...I am attending a seminar Tuesday evening at the hospital where I will go for the banding but I don't know what happens after that...The hospital only requires the 1 seminar, at least that's what the lady told me that I talked to, and she wasn't very friendly so I didn't ask her too many questions. But the hospital was recommended by 2 Drs. So I picked it over Sacramento..I know each Dr. has his own procedures that he follows. I'm really anxious to get this done as I need to have another surgery on my shoulder and I want to get the LB done first...it has a quicker recovery than the shoulder...sorry to ramble on. I thank you for the info.

Hi,

I have PacifiCare HMO and was just banded on Wednesday. Currently, if it's covered by your policy, you will need to see the nutritionist and get the psych evaluation before you submit for the insurance approval. Once I did that, it only took about a week to get the approval.

Good luck to you!

Hi Debi,

I've already gone to the nutritionist and had the psych eval. Tuesday night I'm attending a seminar that the hospital requires for the LB, I'v done it all except the tests they require (blood etc.), so maybe I'm not too far off...thank you so much. How are you doing?

I have Pacificare out of AZ. It took me only 2 weeks once the paper work was submitted for approval.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
