Restriction inconsistancies??? Whats up???

Recommended Posts

Ok....going nuts here. I had lapband surgery last December and have lost a total of 60lbs. (which I have been at for a couple of months now.) I am not complaining.... but I am having a very difficult time finding my spot.

I have had a total of 3 fills. I believe there is 4cc's in my 10 cc band. Anyhow... for a couple of days in a row, I feel like the band is doing its job. I can only eat small, infrequent meals...etc. Then I go for a cycle where it seems I can eat (and fit) whatever I want for about two or three days. Then back to the tightened feeling again...

It keeps changing on me all the time. Anyone have idea why it would change day to day like this??? I am definitly doing bad on those days when i "can" eat!!!

I attended a support group today and this was one of the topics. Everyone said what and how much they were able to eat varied often. I have not been banded yet and thought this was a very important thing to know.. Some who have had their bands for longer times said you get to know the signs when you should just drink liquids or other particular things...

Hope it will be okay for you !

I was just talking to my bandster friend today about this. Last week I felt like I could eat anything and everything and I was constantly hungry and now the last couple of days I am back to where I was before being completly satisfied with small meals and not hungry until 4-6 hours later. I know this happens around my TOM, but it is not that time, so I am not sure what the changes are. I am hoping to stay where I am now, but I am sure in a couple of days it will change. I am going to ask the doc next time I go to see if he can explain this.

Good Luck:)

Not sure if this helps...but I was banded 5-22-08 nearly 6 months later than you and have received 4 fills already and I was told I have a new style band that holds 14cc and Im to 7.3cc already and Im Very tight inthe morning and can only take liquids such as protien and milk. I do eat in the afternoon but it is not much. Some days I feel I can eat more than others but with each fill becomes less. So all I can say is that as you get your fills your restriction will become more consistent and reliable. At least thats what I feel with mine.

Thanks for your thoughts. It is so agrivating that I CAN eat (or binge) sometimes. I don't want to be able to... but I can tell when my body is going to let me.

I consider calling and going for another fill and then BAM!... I am back to being super tight again for a few days. I even cancelled a fill apt. for this week.

???????????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
