Naming your Band?

Recommended Posts

I am glad I am not the only one that thinks like you. I had a name picked out before my surgery. I figured my band was my new life long friend and deserved a name and I chose LILY. I told another gal I met at the hospital my idea and today she emailed me and told me she named hers "Pheonix". I had my band done on August 5th and am doing great. Good luck to all you August people waiting for thier big day.

I have been thinking about the "Enforcer". I be Forced to make better choices and to eat healthier. It will also be a physical barrier in limiting the amount of food I can consume. It will Force me to lose this weight:biggrin:

The current leader in the clubhouse is "Stanley". Follow me here:

  • The band is a tool
  • The "Fat Max" line of tools is made by "Stanley"
  • The Stanley Tool slogan is "Make Something Great!"
  • As a bonus, the band is in my tum. And when I get to goal, he will be "Flat Stanley" (see Flat Stanley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
  • Flat Stanley has adventures and I will to!

I like the upbeat and positive associations with the name!

I've been wondering what name you have been leaning more towards.

I like Stanley and all the associations with the name. Much better then Abe. Stanley seems to be a really friendly name as well. Good choice if you go with it.

Love the Flat Stanley! I work in an elementary school and the kids send flat Stanley all over the country and have them sent back. I would love to be thin like flat Stanley!

I'm thinking maybe Fullerton for mine. Still haven't decided for sure.

If you'd like to go for obscurity on the "fuller" theme, how about "Bucky" for F. Buckminster Fuller? He designed the most famous geodesic domes, such as the one at the Chicago Worlds Fair and the dome at Epcot is built on his design.

So we've finally settled on Stanley! I ordered a silver baby feeding spoon with his name and birthdate engraved on it so that I will eat itty-bitty bites and not make him sick. :tongue2:

Some day I'll have that spoon mounted in a shadow box with a before and after picture (of me, silly, not Stanley :))

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
