Not losing!

Recommended Posts

I had my 2nd fill on June 11th. In 6 weeks, I lost 15 lbs. The last 2 weeks, I haven't lost a pound. I've been eating correctly and walking 3 miles per day. What is going on????? I'm getting so frustrated which makes me want to eat things I should! Any suggestions?

Thanks

I was banded on July 7th. So far counting the pre -opt liquid diet I have lost 15lbs. On July 22nd My doctor said it was too much to fast, he wanted me to eat small amounts more often. As of this morning, I have not lost anymore since July 22nd. I also have been eating correctly but I am slacking on the walking. I have only been walking 15 minutes to 20 minutes 3 days a week. My next doctors visit is Aug 19th. I could use some suggestions also.

Hi all. I myself am going thru the same thing. I was banded on July14th. With the pre & post op diets I have lost only 15lbs. I am eating small portions and exercising as well everyday. I am very frustrated that the scale is not moving either. My 1st fill is not until Sept 5th. I also could use some advice.... Thanks!!

I'm going through the same thing. I was banded in Mar and have only lost 30 pounds. I'm thinking maybe I need another fill but it is frustrating not to loose.

What you are going through is completely normal, although very frustrating. Have you had your first fill yet? It sometimes takes more than one fill to get you to where you need to be. Hang in there and keep doing what you are doing.

I've had several plateaus (especially in June - two months after I was banded). I'd go three weeks without losing and then lose 5-6 pounds in a week. Your body has to play catchup...You were probably eating 3000 calories plus a day - now 800-1200? It's trying to adjust to the changes. If you aren't measuring yourself, start now. I've consistantly lost inches, even if the scales were stuck.

I had this same problem when I was about a month or 2 post-op. When you go from liquids to mushy food your weight loss is going to slow down, maybe even stop, mine did. Plus I was exercising mainly walking on the treadmill, and that builds muscle...muscle weighs more than fat. I was losing more inches than I was pounds, If that makes any sense. Your weight loss will pick back up. Just give it time, and don't live by the scale!!! Hope I helped some! Good luck to you all!

Hi all...I do the same as Leslie. I lose 5-6 pounds in 1-2 weeks and then I stay put for 2-3 weeks and don't lose anything. I have been stuck at 35 pounds lost for the last 3 weeks. I get my third fill on Aug 11th, and I am expecting about a 5 pound loss in the week following that because so far that has been my trend. I don't exercise yet...although I run around all day in hospitals...I planned on starting last weekend, but got bronchitis and sinusitis so that put a damper on my plans. I plan on starting my exercise routine on Saturday. So maybe that will help. I agree with what everyone else said...start measuring yourself, because even tho you aren't losing pounds, you could be losing inches. Plus muscle does weigh more than fat, so that is another possibility. Don't be so hard on yourselves...you didn't put the weight on overnight and you are not going to lose it overnight. It will take a while.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
