Belly button ring in or out?

Recommended Posts

I wasn't trying to be mean. I have just been seeing so many posts lately where people are nagging on those getting the band who don't weigh as much as others and I read your post wrong. No hard feelings!

I DIDN'T THINK YOU WERE...NO PROBLEM.....

I UNDERSTAND SMALLER PEOPLE GETTING LAPBAND. MOST HAVE PROB WEIGHED 125 POUNDS THEIR WHOLE LIFE AND HAVE NOW GAINED UP TO 160 AND THINK THEY ARE HUGE. ABOUT LIKE MYSELF...I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A BIG GIRL AND TO WEIGH 185 I WOULD THINK I WAS SKINNY..LOL:biggrin:

You ladies.....if you are small enough to have your belly button peirced ......what in the world do you need lap band surgery for......i'm not trying to be smart but you must not carry your weight in your tummy...

Confused?

LOL Bttrfli , that is what I was thinking. I cant even find my belly button. I know it is there somewhere! Back to the original question. There are many reasons not to wear it. Infection and getting lost being the two biggest.

Generally speaking, doctors make you wear no makeup and no jewelry... so I would assume this would have to be removed as well :-) You should be able to put it back in soon after surgery though, so no worries about it healing unless you've just had it done recently.

Thanks for the tips guys. I picked up the palstic retainer, and hopefully I can use it. It was cheap enough. I was afraid that the hole would close up.

I have had my navel pierced for a few years now, and while I do carry quite a bit of weight around my middle, I can see the navel ring when I stand up or lie down.

I took mine out. Mine is open and really well healed so now I only wear my navel rings for "special" occasions

It stretched to oblivion when I was pregnant with my twins, but it looks OK now.

I had to take out my tongue ring for my c-section and that closed up within an hour  That sucked..

For my band I took out all my jewelry. It can get lost, get inside your body, conduct electricity etc.

I believe the reason for 'no metal jewellery' is in case they end up having to use a defibrolator during surgery, you could get burned at the metal sites.

I replaced all of my gold piercings with plastic & they were still there when I woke up after surgery.

(I had told the nurse about them just before I went under.)

BTW - My port scar is 1" to the right of my belly button. Even being that close, my surgeon did not remove my belly ring.

I don't know about the others, but I got my piercings long before I gained the weight. I was only about 140lbs at the time, & quite a bit younger.

For everyone that has to take it out I actually lost my ball on one end and i have no idea how long it was out but it was kinda trick to get back in this sounds kinda gross but lube up the barbell or ring your trying to put in I find it moves smoother that way *and if there are any dirty minds out there think about small hole big gauge of course lube will help* okay that was a little dirty:rolleyes2:

some people have lost the majority of their weight and feel that they look great, better then what they looked like before surgery and feel good about what they have done, and want to have their belly button pierced. Some people here shouldn't be so judgemental about who they think should and shouldn't have lapband.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
