Abdominal exercises- Anyone had success?

Recommended Posts

Hi all;

I have never had a waist even when I was thin. I am like a tube. And now I am a smaller tube than 41 pounds ago. When I weighed 135, I still didn't have a waist. My measurements are the same all the way down my body- no kidding.

I would love to have some kind of waist during my lifetime. I am now doing ab exercises- I use a DVD from The Firm (25 minutes- hard!) and use the Ab weight machine at the YMCA.

Question- will this work over time? Will I lose inches just in my waist so I have some kind of dent in the middle of my body?

I am a dedicated exerciser and usually do 5 days hard and 2 days easy- jogging and walking and pushups.

I am planning on doing the ab routine 3 x a week for however long it takes.

Waddya think? Will I get some kind of waist? Anyone else had success?

Also hoping to avoid the TT surgery when I hit goal!

thanks for any comments/help!

Sadie

From what you've described, I'd say you already have the answer, unfortunately. You cannot spot reduce fat deposits. There are only three choices for "problem areas." 1. Lose weight to the point where there can be no fat deposits, which for you or I (I have similar issues) may be unhealthy (I'd have to get down to about 155, which is downright scrawny for a man pushing 40). 2. Have liposuction done to remove those areas. 3. Accept is and know you are healthy anyway, if you are at your goal weight.

Belly dancing is awesome. It works your waist, your belly, your thighs, and it is fun so you don't feel like you're working out. I have been taking it for over a year at my family y, but there a numerous dvd's you can buy as well. I have always been curvy, but anyone any shape can learn to belly dance. It's a great workout and you feel sexy in the process. Good luck to you.

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
