Hi all,

Count me in -- I will be banded on September 24, two days after my b-day -- wanted to have a final unrestricted b-day party.

I was surprised to see that many doctors recommended (or even required?) dieting before the band -- mine did not request anything in particular, except the last 24 hours.

Best wishes to us all :-)

-A.

Isn't it amazing, every Dr has different rules. I put myself on a part liquid diet, 2 Glucerna and a meal a month before my surgery. Then I met the nutritionist who hates Glucerna, too much sugar, not enough protien, and I was put on 2 protien drinks and a meal. Now with the change of my surgery, I have been on this for almost 2 months. My liver better be on the "petite" size by the time I have my surgery! Anyway, my Dr wants me to practice "sipping" and taking a long time 30 to 40 minutes to consume my drinks. Believe it or not I still have trouble with "sipping", but I have the time down. AND IT WORKS, I take the time to drink and then it seems my protien drinks last a good 3-4 hours. I am not starving, now in 4 hours, I am ready for more, but I am doing okay.

Funny you mentioned your birthday. I picked my surgery before of my Birthday and now that I had to tell everyone in my office, because of the change, I am able to say, please no cake. I will still be on the full liquids. Funny, this will be the first Birthday in a long time that I should be under 250. I think that will be the best birthday present of all:wink_smile: Debbie

I got banded this morning. It still hurts, but not terribly so - I can walk, sleep, think. Yet it is very unpleasant -- feels like a gastritis, when a usual remedy is to eat something... but I should not, at least the first day should be Clear Liquids only according to my surgeon.

The surgery itself was pretty uneventful - I was asleep. :girl_hug:

Best wishes to us all,

-am

You should visit chattanooga some time. Not that were are the mecca of travel destinations, but we aren't too bad.

I had a cousin that was a pastor in Johnson City, but lived in Knoxville. i never got to visit.

I love your ticker.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
