First fill in two weeks

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 06/27/2008 and have my first fill 08/14/2008. I have only lost 13 lbs so far and I feel dissapointed. I know that is a good weight loss for a month but I lost most of it during the two weeks when I was only drinking. I only eat until I am full and have not been counting calories but I try and just eat salads with chicken or tuna and eat the Protein first. Is this correct or should I be counting calories before my first fill. I have started exercises three times a week at a gym and the class is sort of a combination of kickboxing, pilates, etc. I probably should have measured myself huh? Anyway, I just feel frustrated and wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening.

:)

This sounds so familiar...hmmm...yep! Sounds like me!! I was banded on June 6th and lost about 15 lbs. from the two weeks before surgery and the week after. Once I started eating again, it was slower. I was very disappointed. To be truthful, I still am disappointed with how slow it's going. The good thing is that the slower it comes off, the longer it will stay off. I lost 6 lbs. in 6 weeks from the first fill to the second. For me, that's not fast enough. But the doctor was very pleased. I've lost a total of 26 lbs. in 3 months. I just keep asking myself when's the last time I lost that kind of weight? I would encourage you to Celebrate small successes and not focus on more than 1-2 lbs. per week. Very slow, but very worth it in the end! Keep the faith! It will work!

I have a surgery date of 10/2 and I can imagine being in the same position and feeling the same way. I will be frustrated as well. Everyone says the slower it comes off, the longer it will stay off....but I want it to come off faster!! I am trying to lose weight now as you did, before the surgery, so we'll see. Increasin exercise may help- but the truth is, it is just hard.

BUT WE CAN DO THIS!!! GOOD LUCK!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
