Uhh how long do I have to wait

Recommended Posts

I was banded July 18th, done great no vomiting. Did clears for 3 days and now on full liquids. Im am hungry a lot and feel dizzy, I have lost 15 lbs I feel that is too much in a week. I am only getting about 600 calories a day, 30 grams of protien.

How soon before all of you ate food. I feel I really need it. I walked tonight with my daughter for 30 minutes and no problems. I am only sore if I do too much and not rest.

Also I cant sleep, anyone else have that problem? Im only sleeping about 4 hours, I use to go to bed at 11 and get up at 7. Now I go to bed 4 am and wake up about 9.

Any advice from those who have been there, i would apperciate it.

You should check with your doctor to find out when you can eat as it varies by doctor. You should try to drink more Protein shakes which would probably help with your hunger. I would also contact your doctor to him to let him know you are dizzy. There might be an underlying reason why that's happening.

Get better!

the point of the post-op diet is to prevent your stomach from churning (which it needs to do to digest solid food) so your body has time to fully heal and form scar tissue. this scar tissue is important (i've been told) because it helps get the band to settle into place and prevents slips in the future.

i know liquids are no fun but if you just remind yourself that you're doing yourself a big favor and it's not forever it helps. for the hunger, make sure you get more calories and FAR more Protein than you have been. you should get 70 grams/day of Protein which is hard on liquids but the powders and shakes are there for a reason. I've been doing a lot of thick Soups (butternut, black bean--no whole Beans, it's all blended) and using some low fat sour cream in them to thicken them and get more protein in. Yogurt, according to my doc, counts as a liquid so I've been having a bunch of that too, in addition to Protein Shakes (which I hate, hate, hate but drink anyway).

to stop or slow the too fast weight loss, just up the calories. you may have a cup of Soup every two or three hours (that's about where I'm at), but at least you get the calories and don't get too hungry.

no one expects you to live on liquids forever, just for enough time to give yourself the best start at this as you can.

good luck!

Sounds like you arent getting enough calories a day or Protein, which would certainly cause most people to be dizzy. You arent allowed to have more a day?? No wonder you are dizzy, 600 calories a day!!!

I only lost 9 - 10 lbs in the first two weeks, but then I could have mushies and I have been eating since the first 3 days.

My doctor moved me to puree'd 7 days post op. I did a week of full liquids, a week of pureed food, a week of mushies and now I'm regular food with absolutley NO restriction. It's sucks... I'm going for my first fill on 08/14 and I can't wait. I know have lost a few pounds since the surgery but nothing significant. I'm in bandster hell!!!

I was on thick liquids for about 1.5 weeks. The doctor and dietician put on me solids or soft solids at 3 weeks. I was banded on 6/27 and I'm eating regular foods now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
