Hello all. I was banded on June 13, 2008 and had my first fill on July 17, 2008. I've only lost about 22 pounds - which seems very low compared to others. I work out 50 minutes a day five days a week and am probably eating only about 800 calories a day (protein first always!). My next fill

isn't scheduled until September. I've heard that it takes anywhere from 3 to 5 filles to get to the right restriction. Should I see if I can get a fill in one month rather than waiting two more months? The weight loss has really slowed down in spite of my vigorous exercise and carefull eating. My BMI was low to begin with (36) and I really only need to lose about 40 more pounds...Any suggestions?

Hey there and welcome! I think your doing great! Don't compare yourself to others because we are all different! As you get more fills you will see a difference and when you hit your "sweat spot" Yee Haw!!!!

I can tell you exactly why your weight loss is so slow. You body is in starvation mode. You need at least 800 calories a day. Then you have to factor in how many calories you're burning - if you eat 800, but burn 500, then your body only has 300 left and it's refusing to let anything go because you're starving. Balance the calories and be sure to drink lots of Water (or other non-caffeine drinks). Experts now say that 8 glasses isn't enough. If you take your weight and divide by 2 you'll get the number of ounces you should have every day.

Don't worry, things will turn around. I'm in the same place as you... very slow loss, but that's what it's supposed to be! Only 1 or 2 lbs per week.

Best of luck!

Barbara

NO! dont get fills because everyone is getting them remember this is not "gastric bypass" your doing great you should loose 1-2 pounds per week with exercise (4-8 pounds month) you lost 22 it can be a mind teaser when you listen to every one else im eatting 1200-1400 cal a day and was band 05-05-08 and lost a total of 50 as this month im happy!. you may be like me and loose little weight but a great deal of Inch, this is your body it needs to heal, adjust it may take a while but dont rush it you will just find . i only had one fill and im doing good so why get another fill because some people say it took them 4-5 fills ? listen to your body..

take care god bless.

No, you need to get more calories if you are working out 50 minutes a day..you are burning to many calories and this will stop your weight loss...you have to have enough calories or your body will think it is starving and it will start holding on and not burn any fat...don't skip meals, add calories to replace what you lose in working out...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
