Well here we are . Thinking, Researching, Hoping that whatever desions we make will be the best. Well here I am 7 month after being banded and i still have no clue whats going on. I did the excerise, read the books, ate all the rite foods and was extreamly motavited. Until my mother had back surgry and bacame 100% dependent on me. Mind you im 23, work full time, college student and recently married. I no longer had time to cook my healthy meals, everthing i ate was fast food. I stoped working out and started smokeing. I droped out of school and loss my scholarship. Moved from the west to east cost. Needless to say i gave up everthing to care for my mother and loved spending every min with her. Now 4 months later she has become less dependent and im strugleing to get my life back. I need all the support, help, advise, motavation i can get. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP:cursing:

Oh Tina, this is the plight of all caregivers. We forget about taking care of ourselves. I am not banded yet but just got my insurance approval today. I have been caring for my husband for the last 5 years since he had a stroke. I had lost all my weight right before his stroke and have gained back well over 100 lbs. All I can suggest is to put all the effort you put into taking care of your Mom into taking care of YOU! Yes easier said than done but I am sure she wants what is best for you. Forget about what you gained and with your next meal start all over again! You are in my prayers. You can do it! Best of luck.

Hi, I want to say you do what you can to get from one day to the next. You can’t change the past but you have a long future to look forward to. Forgive yourself and get back on track one step at a time. Do you have support where you are living now? My husband has many medical issues and I have spent the last 20 years dealing with his issues. This year I said it is my turn and I am starting the process of the lap band surgery. You can get back on track. It is time to take care of youself again. You can do it. There is so much support here and I bet there are many people who struggle to keep on track. Hang in there and start with one good decision to get back on track.

Tina you sound like a wonderful caring person. It's time to start taking care of yourself now! You are too young to give up on yourself. I would start by making an appt with your doctor and make sure everything is ok with your band and if it is I would get back on track by getting a fill. Instead of stopping for fast food does your local market sell roasted chickens or any other prepared Protein meals you could choose from? Maybe you can start by doing a cleanse, like doing liquids for a few days to jump start things.

Good Luck!

You are a wonderful person for taking care of your mom. Now that she is getting better I agree with the others that you should start doing things for yourself as you can. Maybe you and your new spouse can try to eat better together or go for walks together to get you started. This site is a wonderful place for support. Keep us posted on your new progress.

God BLESS you for taking care of your mom. I'm sure you've heard this 100 times, but you can't take care of her if you don't take care of yourself. Buy Protein Shakes (Trader Joes has a wonderful one), buy some Lean Cuisine frozen meals, cook chicken breast (lots of it), just to have it around for a quick meal...for those times you are too busy to cook and prepare. Just get outside and walk, even if you only have 20 minutes...push yourself and go. You'll be SO recharged if you do! I wish you all the best and please keep us posted!

The good news is that you still have a band. I second the suggestion to go talk to your surgeon and get back on track including a fill if needed.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
